Imagine this: warm sun on your skin, wind in your face, and minutes from your destination of one of the many beaches on Marco Island. With its bike-friendly roads, there’s nowhere else that you’ll want to spend your vacation, and no better way to get there than Marco Island Bike Rentals.
Here’s our favorite places to bike through on Marco Island:
Our favorite place to window shop for vacation homes is Key Marco! This beautiful neighborhood has beautiful, grand waterfall homes everywhere you look! Key Marco is special because Captain Horr’s Pineapple Plantation is a historical side at the western end of the neighborhood. Built in 1877, it’s a great display of Florida history secluded off to the edge. Cyclists can enter Key Marco’s bike-friendly streets, but you must show a valid driver’s license.
If you’re feeling adventurous and up for a longer bike ride on a traditional or electric bike, we recommend heading north to Shell Island to Rookery Bay. Rookery Bay is a national research area with 110,000 acres of mangrove forests. Green space, trees, and natural wildlife will surround you for miles. We recommend detouring to the Briggs Boardwalk Observation Deck. The views are incredible. If you leave from Marco Beach, the 11-mile trek will require you to cross the Jolley West Bridge and travel six miles up Collier Boulevard. Have no fear, though, Marco Island’s bike-friendly roads have got your back.
Last but not least is Indian Hill. This family-friendly three-mile ride from most resorts is on the southern end of the main island. Indian Hill will show you some amazing views of beautiful homes, and highlight the nearby Caxambas Bay. You’ll also find the Outer Mound Preserve around here, which is a breathtaking green oasis and 700-foot trail. If you so desire, you can park your bike here and walk through the Calusa Indian Shell Mounds. You’ll also come across some beautiful native Florida wildlife!
