We all know that vacation is the greatest way to escape – a beach getaway simply cannot compare to anything else, well…ever. But we know that sitting on the beach can make you restless and excited to see your beautiful vacation destination. Well, Marco Island Bike Rentals is here to help!

When your beach vacation becomes a little too relaxing, the best way to have an adventure is to travel Marco Island on two wheels! And there’s no better place to bike than the nearby Everglades!

For a challenging trek, head to Big Cypress National Preserve, which is part of the beautiful, naturally swampy Everglades! Take I-75 (Alligator Alley), U.S. 41 farther south, or any of the other paved roads, and choose where you stop along the way. If you’re feeling adventurous, or just looking to sightsee, check out the following couple of places:

Fire Prairie Trail is an unmarked 4.5 mile trail, complete with packed sand and grass. (Our larger-tire bikes will work well for you here.) Within 10 minutes of your adventure ride, you’ll feel lost (in the best way)! You’ll be surrounded by shrubs and grasslands, and just follow the trail to get out of “the middle of nowhere.” Your bike will be up for the challenge, if you are! You can access the Fire Prairie Trail from State Road 839, as well.Just a few miles north and east of SR 839, you’ll come across Bear Island Backcountry, where you can find the Bear Island Campground and a series of roads and trails. Safe to bike on, these roads are hard-packed sand, shells, and gravel. Lastly, if you’re willing to test your sense of direction, start at State Road 29 and work east 8 miles to the campground. You’ll see the heart of the park on this scenic ride!

Lastly, if backwoods biking is not your thing, you can start in quaint Everglades City on a paved road, head southeast four miles, to the thoroughly rustic island town of Chokoloskee. Either everglades City or Chokoloskee can give relaxed bike touring with very little car traffic. You can also catch a great bite to eat and get the old-Florida feel while you’re at it!

The best place to rent a bike for any of these excursions is Marco Island Bike Rentals! With delivery and pickup right to your hotel or condo, setting up plans for your excursion is so easy!
